Holidays!

I love the time of year that we leave our work behind and relax at the lake!

Here are a few things we found along our way!

This is Henri~ She only has a short time left with us
so we were sure to bring her along!

Thunder is our 4 year old Saint Bernard
She large, lazy, drools and is super lovable!

We Shared Canada Day with family and friends in the heat of the summer at the lake!

My son fishing in style!

Camping is not complete without a canoe trip
across the lake or for a week or two
we love our canoe!

During our paddle we came across this old geezer and woke him up!  Oops!

One of my luxuries along the way.....I brought along my shampoo/conditioner/soap/ and lotion
from Ana!

I will not lie, the bugs were bad!  Poor Henri!

Our view from our Morning Coffee spot!  What a great view!

Purple and Red - A Powerful Combination

Creations have been on the back burner for the past week!  The weather has been unbelievable, sunny, warm, no wind.  This is all very amazing for this time of the year.  Now you may think that I have been out enjoying all of this beauty, leaving my work behind for a few days, sadly no.
We have had a pesky flu bug come in and sail through almost everyone in our house!  Slowly we are all finding our way back to normal with the help from chicken soup and lots of sleep!

Here is a new creation I want to share with you!

The purple in this round  stoneware mandela represents Inspiration, Imagination, Individuality, and Spirituality.  The deep red color represents passion and energy.

Add some purple to your life when you want:
~to use your imagination to its fullest
    ~to re-balance your life
          ~to remove obstacles

~to calm overactivity or to energize from depression

Add some red to your life when you want:

          ~increased enthusiasm and interest

          ~more energy

~action and confidence to go after your dreams

          ~protection from fears and anxieties

Combine your purple with red to empower yourself, giving yourself confidence in your creativity, imagination, and individuality,  and a strong will to persist and succeed.

Wicked Antique Hunting

One of the most exciting parts of spring is the hunt for new treasures!  It is this time when I best venture out alone taking time to find some awesome additions to both my shop and my home.

Recently we have decided to replace some of our porch furniture with more unique and meaningful pieces of comfortable seating.

This awesome rocking chair is from the late 1800s -early 1900's.  It was for a while in the Lougheed House in Calgary, Alberta according to the seller.

My Beautiful new Rocking Chair

We then searched for my husband's new front porch rocking chair and found this gem from the early 1900's.  We are still not sure if it will be in our house or on the porch!

I love all vintage books!  This one I couldn't leave at the thrift shop....I thought I would sell it in my shop but I don't think I can.

Finally I found some awesome vintage Wordsearch Tiles!
These will soon be in my shop...they are approximately 1 inch round and make an awesome pendant!

So Begins the Treasure hunting season!

FRIDAY NIGHT HOMEMADE SALAD ROLLS!

A LITTLE WEEKEND FUN!

I love shrimp salad rolls!

We had fun making these little (some big!) salad rolls this weekend.  This is third time I have made these salad rolls and I am NOT getting any better rolling them!  I have made my fair share of cabbage rolls in the past and I should be able to roll these much better!

....I will chalk it up to recent surgery on my wrist...;)

I love my little dip dishes.... Perfect for individual dips!

Stirfry Vegi's and Rice Noodles
I made this dish~ years ago!  The symbol means to 'enjoy'

Of course we had fresh vegi's ~surprisingly they were local
...rather amazing for our climate at the moment!

Here is the recipe!

Shrimp Salad Rolls

Original Recipe Yield8 salad rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package rice vermicelli
  • 8 ounces cooked, peeled shrimp, cut in half lengthwise
  • 8 rice wrappers (6.5 inch diameter)
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • water as needed

Directions

  1. Bring a medium saucepan of water to boil. Remove from heat. Place rice vermicelli in boiling water, remove from heat, and let soak 3 to 5 minutes, until soft. Drain, and rinse with cold water.
  2. Fill a large bowl with hot water. Dip one rice wrapper in the hot water for 1 second to soften. Lay wrapper flat, and place desired amounts of noodles, shrimp, carrot, lettuce and basil in the center. Roll the edges of the wrapper slightly inward. Beginning at the bottom edge of wrapper, tightly wrap the ingredients. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the hoisin sauce with water until desired consistency has been attained. Heat the mixture for a few seconds in the microwave.
  4. Serve the spring rolls with the warm dipping sauce.

*  We found that 1 second in the hot water was not long enough, I would say 10 seconds was more realistic!
*  Our dipping sauce we purchased at the store and then decided to make our own....
This was the recipe we followed.....although we did add a little more/less of some of the ingredients!

Peanut Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 5 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons warm water
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Chinese rice vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
  • 3 teaspoons white granulated sugar

Preparation:

Whisk together all the ingredients in a bowl. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator until ready to use. Note:For best results, refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to blend. Before serving, thin the sauce with a bit more warm water if needed. Use the peanut sauce within 3 - 4 days.

ENJOY!

A Wicked Welcome!

So Glad you came by!

Welcome to my little blog!  ~a collaberation of wickedly handmade treasures!

~~Here you will find all sorts of cool handmade treasures, awesome pictures, some ideas, maybe a recipe or two and some great links to other unique shops.~~

My Etsy shops

The Wicked Shop
http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheWickedShop?ref=si_shop  has wicked little upcycled scrabble, domino, and glass pendants.  These are inexpensive, unique gifts that can be personalized and customized to create meaningful little masterpieces! This shop also has wicked vintage finds, some crochet items and supplies as well!

The Wicked Potter
http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheWickedPotter  is my pottery shop!
I have been doing pottery for over 15 years!  I love to create something usable from the earth itself!  I find satisfaction in the process ...beginning with a thought and ending with a little work of art!   I have focused lately on smaller items since I have been selling online, however, I plan to make more larger items as this year progresses!  Recently I have had carpal tunnel surgery and this has placed some unfortunate and frustrating limits to my work, but it won't be long, I'll be back throwing pots soon! Until then, there will be lots of smaller creations.

Digital Art Cafe
http://www.etsy.com/shop/digitalartcafe is my latest little baby!  I have combined a few loves together and come up with this exciting new venture that is challenging and limitless.  I love photography, vintage and historical books and pictures, digital and graphic arts.  This shop is combining all of these loves together and creating a shop that has digital work for sale as well as some hard copies as well.  This shop is still growing and evolving and will continue to as the year goes on!

I invite you to check out these shops and come by often to see what I am working on!  I will have so many posts here that will give you the first opportunity for products, coupons and sneak peaks!

SHARING!

~MY MOTHER HAS ALWAYS TOLD ME TO SHARE! AND I HAVE ALWAYS TOLD MY CHILDREN TO SHARE!

SHARING IT WILL BE!~
